Finnair Sonic Identity

Sonic Identity
Role
Music Supervision
Finnair’s new brand strategy places Finnishness at its core. I was honored to supervise the renewal of Finnair’s sonic identity from the early strategic frameworks to the final recordings.
As a result, a new musical theme Matkantekijä (The Traveller), audio logo and boarding music was introduced in 2026 across across its fleet, lounges, and brand, marketing, and customer service touchpoints.
With a focus on Finnishness, it was only natural that the music was composed by the fourth-generation Finnish musician and composer Lauri Porra, the great-grandson of the legendary Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
"I tried to build a virtual Finland in my headphones,” Porra says.
A 360° sonic identity from strategy to the skies
Anthem, audio logo & boarding music
Matkantekijä was recorded live in Helsinki with a full-scale symphony orchestra with Vantaa Pops Orchestra. The final candence of the piece now serves as Finnair’s new audio logo.
In addition to the new spectacular anthem, an intimate and soothing 40-minute album Matkantekijä: Music for Travellers was recorded for boarding music and released on DSP’s.
